Teaching
Katherine teaches privately in Sydney’s lower north shore. She particularly enjoys helping young musicians develop their musical potential, be it for an orchestral audition, AMEB exam, school scholarship, or purely for enjoyment. She has coached numerous violinists into casual and full time positions with Australian professional orchestras, has taught at the Rising Stars Conservatorium Open Academy (University of Sydney), and has completed Level 1 Suzuki Teacher Training. She has also tutored for the Australian Youth Orchestra, as well as education programs for the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and Australian Chamber Orchestra.
Katherine’s style of teaching focuses on setting up violinists with a solid technical basis while encouraging the player to make music from the heart.
Katherine’s Masters academic research focused on violin pedagogy and the comparison of various schools of teaching. She also holds a Diploma of Modern Languages in German and speaks fluent German.
